The Obuasi Municipal Assembly (OMA) has distributed 300 streetlight bulbs to Assembly Members across the municipality as part of efforts to improve public safety and strengthen security within local communities.

The distribution saw each of the municipality’s 19 electoral areas receive six boxes of streetlight bulbs to facilitate the replacement of faulty bulbs and the installation of new ones where necessary. The initiative is expected to improve visibility in communities and help deter criminal activities.

Speaking at a brief presentation ceremony, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Obuasi, Hon. Faustilove Appiah Kannin, said the intervention forms part of the Government’s broader commitment to enhancing security at the grassroots level through improved street lighting.

She urged Assembly Members to ensure the bulbs are installed without delay to maximise their intended impact on the safety and well-being of residents.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Assembly Members, the Presiding Member of the Obuasi Municipal Assembly, Hon. David Odoom, expressed appreciation to the Assembly for the timely intervention. He assured the MCE that the bulbs would be used solely for their intended purpose to improve lighting in communities across the municipality.

The presentation ceremony was attended by the Municipal Coordinating Director, Madam Joyce Akosua Angmorteh; the Finance Officer, Mr. Zakaria Yahaya; the Stores Officer, Mr. John Arhin; the Information Officer, Mr. Ernest Kofi Offen; and some Assembly Members.
