The Municipal Chief Executive of the Obuasi Municipal Assembly, Honourable Faustilove Appiah Kannin, has congratulated Apitikooko M/A Junior High School for placing second in the maiden edition of the Aseda FM Science and Maths Quiz.
During a courtesy call by the contestants and their teachers at her office, the MCE presented a cash donation to both the students and the school in recognition of their achievement. She commended them for defying the odds and making the Municipality proud on the academic front, noting that their performance was a testament to hard work and determination.
Hon. Faustilove encouraged the students to build on this success, emphasizing the importance of education, particularly in Science and Mathematics, as a tool for development. She praised the school for prioritising academic excellence and urged the contestants to remain focused and consistent.
The school, in turn, expressed gratitude to the MCE for the recognition and pledged to work harder to win the ultimate prize in the next edition. Teachers also assured that they would continue to give their best to nurture the students’ potential.
With over 40 schools from Obuasi and Obuasi East participating, Apitikooko M/A JHS emerged as one of the surprise contenders, rising above its rural background to compete against schools from the urban centres. The Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Anthony Kwenin, and the Municipal Finance Officer, Mr. Yahaya Zakaria, joined the MCE during the presentation.
