The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Obuasi Municipal Assembly, Honourable Faustilove Appiah Kannin, has charged newly recruited Community Police and Fire Assistants under the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) to be professional and disciplined in the discharge of their duties.

Speaking at a brief ceremony in Obuasi to post the recruits to their respective stations, the MCE urged them to remain submissive to their superiors and committed to learning on the job. She explained that the recruits have been engaged to augment police presence in the municipality and to play a vital role in ensuring safety and security. “You are offering an essential service to the people of Obuasi. You must never relent in your duties,” she stressed.

Hon. Faustilove expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for creating the job opportunities for young people and also commended the Chief Executive Officer of the YEA, Mr. Malik Basintale for spearheading the recruitment and training process.

The Municipal Director of YEA, Mr. Francis Nartey, advised the recruits to be punctual and follow due process in their daily work. He added that outstanding performance could pave the way for them to be absorbed into the mainstream Police or Fire Service in the future.

On their part, the personnel pledged to follow due process in the discharge of duty. They also thanked the government for the job opportunity and promised to give out their best in serving the Municipality and the Nation at large.

In all, 33 recruits were posted—24 as Community Police Assistants and 9 as Fire Assistants. They have since been deployed to the Central and Bediem Police Stations, as well as the Fire Service Station at Boete. At the ceremony were the Municipal Police Commander and some officers of the police service as well as some Fire Officers in the Municipality and the Municipal City Guard Commander.
