Last Wednesday, 22nd November 2025, a motor accident occurred at Adaase involving five officers of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS), resulting in the death of one military officer.
Although the identities of the officers remain undisclosed for security reasons, confirmed details indicate that the pickup vehicle involved was transporting two military officers, two police officers, and one immigration officer. The deceased was one of the two military officers on board.

Following the incident, fear gripped some residents of Adaase and surrounding communities due to rumours that the pickup had been attacked by illegal miners, causing the accident. This fear was compounded by concerns about possible reprisal actions by the military—especially recalling a recent incident in the nearby community of Dadwen, where a military swoop operation led to the arrest and remand of at least 300 men.
Responding to these concerns, the Municipal Chief Executive for the Obuasi Municipal Assembly, Honourable Faustilove Appiah Kannin, has assured residents that there is no cause for alarm. She clarified that the accident happened when the vehicle somersaulted while negotiating a curve, stressing firmly that no attack occurred.
