The Adansihene, Opagyakotwere Bonsra Afriyie II, has thrown his weight behind the newly formed Division One side, Ashanti Gold 04, describing it as the latest sporting hope for the people of Adansiman.
The club, inspired by the vision of the Municipal Chief Executive of the Obuasi Municipal Assembly, Honourable Faustilove Appiah Kannin, is expected to revive the excitement once brought to the area by the defunct AshGold Sporting Club. To guarantee sustainability, the team has adopted a bipartisan board structure, with the full backing of Adansiman chiefs, who will serve as life patrons.

At a brief ceremony at his palace in Fomena, the Adansihene urged his people to rally behind the new club just as they did for AshGold in the past. He pledged his personal commitment with a cash donation to support the team’s operations, calling on all of Adansiman to make the club a source of pride.
Honourable Faustilove, who led the delegation to the palace on behalf of the board, expressed gratitude to the Adansihene and the people of Adansiman for embracing the team. She assured supporters that management and the board would employ the best strategies to ensure the club’s promotion to the Ghana Premier League.

Earlier, Ashanti Gold 04 played a friendly against Asante Kotoko at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi on Sunday, September 7, 2025. The well-attended match saw the stadium more than half full, with the home side impressively holding Kotoko to a draw. Moved by the team’s performance, the Dompoasehene who was at the stadium donated GH¢10,000 to motivate the players. Lawyer Akuoko is the team’s Communications Officer.
