The Regional Department of Agriculture has supplied 1,000 coconut seedlings to the Obuasi Municipal Agric Department to augment the coconut distribution exercise being carried out by the Obuasi Municipal Assembly as part of the government’s PERD project.
The Municipal Director of Agriculture in the Obuasi Municipality, Mr. Raphael Atta Peprah presented the seedlings to the beneficiary farmers on behalf of the Chief Executive of the Municipal Assembly, Mr. Elijah Adansi Bonnah.
A total of 20 farmers, comprising 3 females and 17 males benefited from this 4th tranche of distribution.
The department took the farmers through planting procedures and general husbandry practices of coconut cultivation before handing the seedlings over to them.
The farmers were also made to sign an undertaking to take proper care of the seedlings on field and ensure their establishment.
