Show respect to Teachers – Obuasi MCE to parents

The Municipal Chief Executive for Obuasi Hon. Elijah Adansi- Bonah has lauded efforts of teachers in shaping the lives of Children. He called on parents to show respect to teachers and see them as partners in shaping the lives of kids.
He was speaking as the Guest speaker at the 6th Quadrennial (53rd) Municipal Delegates Conference of the Adansi West District branch of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) in Obuasi. The program was under the theme ” GNAT @ 90, Surviving as a reliable and vibrant teacher union in the 21st Century”.
Honourable Adansi- Bonah talked about Government’s role in developing the skills of teachers. He mentioned that  the NPP government is interested in improving the wellbeing of teachers. “Last year alone , a total of GH345 million was paid to teachers as their Professional development allowance”.  This the MCE emphasized will go a long way to ensure the teachers are abreast with modern trends by improving their skills.
Again, he said Government’s commitment in improving teaching and learning is demonstrated in the provision of brand new pick-ups for each District Education Director in the country.
Hon. Elijah Adansi-Bonah, the MCE for Obuasi disclosed that the Assembly also prioritizes education by spending a chunk of its capital expenditure on Education. He revealed that  since 2017, the Assembly has committed a whopping sum of GH5,104,158.75 into education.
This he said can find expression in the building of classroom blocks, provision of furniture, granting of scholarships and sponsoring of BECE mock Exams.
